DISPENSING PRESCRIPTION MEDICINES AT THE EXPENSE OF MILITARY AND CIVILIAN HEALTH INSURANCE FUNDS
The Rulebook on the List of Medicines and Medical Devices prescribed and dispensed at the expense of mandatory health insurance funds is issued by the Republic Health Insurance Fund (RFZO).
The medicine list consists of lists A, A1, B, C and D.
For medicines on list A, a co-payment is set at a fixed amount of 50 dinars per box of the dispensed medicine;
List A1 consists of medicines that are therapeutic alternatives to list A medicines, for which a co-payment ranging from 10% to 90% of the medicine price is determined;
List B contains medicines used in outpatient or inpatient treatment;
List C consists of medicines with a special dispensing regime;
List D contains medicines not authorized in the Republic of Serbia but necessary for diagnosis and treatment (unregistered medicines);

What do you need to collect a prescription medicine?
- a prescribed e-prescription (or e-therapy) from the chosen doctor,
- a verified patient health booklet,
- in the case of a narcotic on the prescription, the identity card of the person collecting the medicine and the patient's address are also required;
How long is a prescription valid?
A prescription is valid for 15 days from the date of prescribing for most medicines, or 7 days before and after the prescribing date for chronic therapy, 7 days from the date of prescribing for narcotics, 3 days for antibiotics and 30 days for medicines on list D, not counting the day of prescribing itself.

Can both military and civilian insured persons collect medicines?
Yes. At Galena Lab pharmacies, both civilian and military insured persons can collect a medicine or medical device on prescription or order.
What are list D medicines?
These are medicines that do not have a marketing authorization in the Republic of Serbia but are necessary for diagnostics and therapy (unregistered medicines). A prescription for them is valid for 30 days from the date of prescribing.
